Medevac off Cape Hatteras
The US Coast Guard medevaced a 71-year-old woman suffering from abdominal pain on Dec 6, 2014, from the "Norwegian Breakaway" approximately 50 miles east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. The ship had contacted Coast Guard watchstanders at approximately 8:45 a.m., notifying them a woman was in need of medical Attention. Command center watchstanders dispatched crews aboard an MH-60 Jawhawk helicopter and an HC-130 Hercules airplane from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina, to assist. The Jayhawk crew arrived on scene at approximately 11:00 a.m., hoisted the woman into the helicopter and took her to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
