Carnival Cruise Line announces the order of a fifth Excel-class cruise ship, that will be built by Meyer Werft and enter service in 2028.

“Carnival Cruise Line continues to perform at an outstanding level, and we are focused on adding capacity across the company where it aligns with demand and our position in the marketplace,” said Josh Weinstein, CEO of Carnival Corporation.
The top executive added that the latest ship order for Carnival Cruise Line shows the company’s commitment to growth. Moreover, he indicated there will be more “fleet plans” in the coming months to meet capacity demands across the company’s brands.

Immagino abbiano un ottimismo sfrenato sul futuro del comparto crocieristico, anche se credo andranno anche a sostituire qualche nave piu’ piccola e vecchia.
Viene rimarcato l’estrema efficienza di questa classe di navi, che presentano un break-even ( il punto di pareggio fra costi e ricavi ) veramente basso. Restano navi per la grande massa che fanno storcere il naso ai crocieristi di vecchia data, ma apprezzatissime dalle nuove generazioni.
Sara’ interessante vedere dove le posizioneranno queste navi da oltre 6000 ospiti…Caraibi, Bahamas, costa messicana e…?

Penso intenda dire che quando entrerà in servizio nel 2028 l’undicesima nave della classe il progetto stesso avrà alle spalle 10 anni.
Però anche royal continua a costruire navi della classe oasis…
